Some of the NBA’s biggest stars go way back. Especially the veterans, considering they have been on the circuit for longer than the others. Among these experienced campaigners, is Brooklyn Nets starlet Kevin Durant. The 33-year-old has been a part of the league for close to 15 years now, and is widely regarded as one of the best ever forwards. In his side’s most recent fixture, KD got into a mini-brawl with Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks. But the lesser known fact is that, Durant and Young go way back.

Trae Young is still extremely young. He began as a teenager, and has already made a name for himself at the age of 23. The guard is the key pivot for the Hawks, and has guided them to tons of victories. He averages close to 25 points in his career, and is a proven match-winner. Speaking of match-winners, it doesn’t get bigger than Durant himself. As the Hawks took on the Nets on Friday, the duo went face-to-face in a rather ugly face-off. However, the former Warriors icon made it clear that they both know each other since ages, after which a memorable image resurfaced.

The incident took place in the final quarter of the encounter. As the Hawks went on the attack, KD was in charge of guarding Young. Attempting to halt the guard’s momentum, the 11-time All-star seemed to shove Trae from behind, to which the youngster reacted not too kindly. He shoved Durant back, following which they were separated. In the post-match interview however, Durant downplayed the chance of a potential brawl, adding that the pair go way back.

As seen in the image above, the 2-time NBA champion has met Trae Young when he was all of 10-years-old. They have immense respect for one another, and admire each other’s game. On their heated exchange, Kevin quoted, “I’ve known Trae Young since he was 10 years old… That’s the spirit of the game. I got nothing but respect for Trae.” If there were any doubts cast regarding their relationship, Durant squashed them with immediate effect.
