NBA superstar Kevin Durant was one of the main reasons behind the Golden State Warriors’ title runs in 2017 and 2018. The 2017 Warriors are one of the best teams in recent history. They were stacked with talent everywhere. They won back-to-back titles and were in the running for a three-peat. However, the Warriors lost the 2019 Finals against Kawhi Leonard and the Raptors. And KD’s injury during the 2019 post-season was a huge factor in their loss. After all, he was their Finals MVP in 2017 and 2018.
Recently. current and former players have been comparing some of the best teams from different eras. Stephen Curry claimed the 2017 Warriors would beat the 2001 Los Angeles Lakers with a prime Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant. Shaq, a huge curry fan, responded in his podcast, saying that his Lakers would beat the Warriors.

Then Draymond Green took to Twitter to compare the Warriors with Michael Jordan and the 1998 Chicago Bulls. He claimed that the 2017 Warriors would beat the 1998 NBA finalists, the Bulls, and the Utah Jazz. Unsurprisingly, it was met with a lot of backlash from the fans. And Kevin Durant decided to join the party as well. Notably, the former teammates had a heated exchange recently.
Kevin Durant replies to Draymond Green’s claims
Kevin Durant replied that he is not sure what the result would be if the Warriors and the Bulls faced each other. However, he said that he knows coach Steve Kerr would want them to put Kerr under a lot of pick-and-roll situations. While that may be true, the Bulls would be well equipped to defend the Warriors’ pick-and-roll.
I can’t tell you what the results would be, but I do know that steve kerr would’ve demanded that we put steve kerr in as many pick and rolls as possible https://t.co/PxeBdsCt3F

Even though the 98′ Bulls aren’t their strongest ever, they were still a great team. They had some of the best defenders in the league at the time. The Bulls’ length and quickness would definitely help them defensively. Players like Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman were well equipped to defend players from any position. So there might not be a whole lot of advantage for the Warriors in pick-and-roll situations. Because the Bulls could simply switch and go to work.
However, the Bulls would find it hard to defend the 3-pointers from the Warriors’ sharpshooters. Curry, Thompson, and KD could pretty much pull from anywhere on the court. On the other hand, the Warriors would find it hard to cope with the physicality of the Bulls. Jordan, Pippen, and the Bulls could just play bully ball due to the lack of size of the Warriors. But Green is true about one thing, it is not a clever idea to compare teams from different eras.
