The NBA MVP award this season is not without drama. Joel Embiid is up against Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo, who, as per Kevin Durant, won’t be winning. Durant seemed to have a reasoning for his conclusion, launching into an explanation about likeability and how one plays on the course.

Fans, however, had some varied reaction on Durant’s opinion.

While a few fans agreed, a few were against what Durant was stating as a whole. Some had an issue with his reasoning, even though they did want Embiid to become the MVP and win more.

Fans react to Kevin Durant’s MVP claim

According to Durant, people simply like Jokic and Giannis more than they like Embiid. As a result, Embiid might not win his MVP award. “It?s as simple as that. His personality, his story I guess,” Durant added. “As a basketball player, if people look at just the game and what is on the floor”.?

The two-time NBA Champion further elaborated, explaining how one’s personality should not matter. Ultimately, Durant believes they just like the other guys better. He even mentioned that Jokic had an incredible season, but Embiid did as well. And one should give him credit for doing so.

One of the first things fans spoke about was the playoffs last year, where Giannis won against Durant. For many, KD seems to hold a grudge against Giannis even today. As per some users, KD would do anything to speak against Giannis. Some fans supported Durant, wondering what people on Twitter knew about basketball over the Nets star.

Fans even added that while Giannis might be more universally like, Jokic and Embiid probably share a similar amount of following.

Others even spoke about NBA stars favoring Embiid over the media, who have been focusing on Jokic and then Giannis.

Who will win the NBA MVP honor?

Interestingly, if Jokic wins, this will be his second straight MVP award. Giannis, on his end, has already secured his back-to-back MVP award in 2019 and 2020. If he wins this year, he will be one of the very few NBA icons to win three times.
