NBA stars generally maintain active social media accounts, and Kevin Durant is not an exception to that rule. A brief look at Durant’s Twitter account shows that the Nets star engages with fans and all things basketball.

However, he had once shared an embarrassing picture on Twitter.

Durant posted a photo on his Twitter account which showed him smoking. The photo seemed to display him smoking a hookah. However, he quickly deleted the tweet due to the uncomfortable situation it caused. He also uploaded a series of tweets that apologized to his fans and followers for his original hookah tweet.

While smoking hookah is completely legal in the NBA’s rule book, adding substances not approved by the NBA could result in a violation. To Durant’s relief, however, there exists no proof of him smoking illegal substances in the hookah. Various media sites documented Durant’s embarrassing internet gaffe.

Durant’s apology tweets clarified that someone had hacked his phone. One of the now-deleted apology tweets on January 10, 2014, reads, “Yoooo somebody hacked my phone though…it’s blowing me, not my twitter my phone.

Another tweet read, “Textin my contacts crazy messages, my mom, dad brother..disrespecting them..how can u do that.
