During the speech, he explained his thoughts on his relationship with Westbrook and his famous duo.  At that time, it was reported that they had not spoken for several months after Durant’s shift. The tension between them was evident whenever they did play against one another.

Durant mentioned for the first time what he feels about their separation, especially after all those headlines issued around the world. In light of that, he said: “I know you guys think I forgot Russ. But I could speak all night about Russell. An emotional guy who will run through a wall for me and I won’t take it for granted. I want to just talk with you and tell you to snap out of it sometimes, but like I know these days you want to do the same thing with me. I love you man I love you.”

As far as their relationship is concerned, it has improved over time. During a pre-season match back in 2020 between the Brooklyn Nets and Washington Wizards. The players were seen shaking hands and hugging at the Courtside. The moment was emotional for many fans who had always supported the duo.
