The Brooklyn Nets came off of a night to remember. Kevin Durant and his troops fought for their second win of the season over the Indiana Pacers. It seemed things were transforming in their camp. However, as he has before, Adrain Wojnarowski shared the most shocking news of the evening. Right before their matchup against the Chicago Bulls, the Nets fired their head coach, Steve Nash.

Nash joined a stacked Brooklyn Nets team in 2020. Arguably one of the most clever generals of the game, the two-time MVP had all the talent at his disposal. The Nets were a force with three offensive ‘Hercules’ co-existing. The trio of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden was supposed to dominate the NBA. However, Brooklyn seemed to be destined for doom. Despite the talent, the Nets couldn’t see a single conference final in two years.

Before the season, Nash also came in the crossfire when KD requested a trade away. However, now the 12-time All-Star won’t have to wait, after a 2-5 start to the season.

Brooklyn Nets, Kevin Durant bid adieu to Steve Nash

Nash’s two years were attached with disappointing playoff runs. Having all the power in his hand, the NBA legend couldn’t translate it to any success. Moreover, he grew an enemy of both stars, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, who wanted the former Lakers guard out of the position. It even came down to serving an ultimatum. But the owners were able to convince the Slim Reaper to give it one last shot. And it seems the time has passed for the Net’s head coach.

Till the vacant spot gets filled, assistant coach Jacque Vaughn will serve as the head coach for Brooklyn. With the firing of Nash, who do the Nets have on their list? Well, some big names are still available on the market, and the Durant-led team will likely reach out to them. Notably, Quin Snyder, Ime Udoka, and others are likely candidates to replace Steve Nash as the new head coach for the Brooklyn Nets.

Nash’s initial stint as a head coach doesn’t paint a great picture. However, having such firepower in his first season was probably the biggest reason for his reputation. The Nets surely had the potential to become a dynasty one day with a Hall of Famer coach. But it seems Nash’s destiny didn’t write success with Brooklyn.
