Kevin Durant’s 2021-22 campaign is probably not going as per plan. With James Harden traded and Kyrie Irving unavailable for home games, the Brooklyn Nets continue to play with other injuries plaguing the roster. Ultimately, Durant has to carry the team ahead, especially with LaMarcus Aldridge, Ben Simmons, and Seth Curry all sidelined for some time.
The Nets last played the Dallas Mavericks and lost 113-111. While it was essentially a close game, many expected Durant to get the win.

Is Kevin Durant dependent on his teammates?
While discussing the Nets-Mavericks game, analyst Chris Broussard spoke of why exactly Durant has not faced a situation like this before. Most of it, as per Broussard, has to do with how Durant’s role on the court has changed.
“Well, number one?if you’ve noticed?since James Harden’s been gone, Durant’s been bringing the ball up court a lot more,” he said. Against the Mavericks, the Nets did not have Kyrie Irving, who is undeniably an integral part of their wins. Furthermore, without Irving, Durant was playing more like a point guard than he has in some time.
In the end, Broussard added that Durant is more or less used to playing with a superstar around him.
“Whether it was Russell Westbrook in Oklahoma City. All the guys in Golden State and then even in Brooklyn it’s either been Harden and/or Kyrie.”?
When Durant played without any additional support against the Mavericks, it was not something he has dealt with beforehand.

During the game, Durant?who finished with 23 points?was seen yelling at a fan. He said, “shut the f**k up and sit down.”?The fan asked Durant to take control, but the two-time NBA champion apparently was in no mood to listen. Though nothing has been announced, Durant might be fined for speaking to a fan like that.
This loss also put an end to the team’s four-game winning streak. Though one might say the team is better than most, the playoffs will be tough to crack. Furthermore, Ben Simmons continues to be sidelined and there is still time before he gets on the court.

That being said, the eighth-seeded Nets will face the Portland Trail Blazers next. With Curry possibly back on the court, one can hope for another win in their favor.
