Stephen Curry is an outright superstar of the NBA who transformed its landscape for the better. By effectively using the three-point line, he has put on incredible numbers over the years. In turn, this has contributed to 3 title wins for the Warriors.

Even in the 2021-22 season, Curry has been in hot form. He had two 50 point performances, once in the regular season, and the other in the All-Star Game. Moreover, he almost had a third one against the Washington Wizards. However, Warriors coach Steve Kerr would sub him out.

In light of Curry’s near fifty-point performance, Kevin Durant stated that coach Kerr and the Warriors should have let Curry reach the 50 point milestone since he was very close to that mark.

Kevin Durant on Stephen Curry Being Substituted

During a recent episode of ‘The ETCs with Kevin Durant and Eddie Gonzalez’ podcast, Durant stated that Steve Kerr and the Warriors should have let Curry finish the game against the Wizards with 50 points.

“Yeah, you got to let him get to 50, bro. I mean, you gonna let him get to 49, you might as well let him get to 50,” said KD.

“That 50 point mark sounds way better,” he added.

Clearly, KD believes that Steve Kerr should have let Curry continue. With nearly 2 minutes left on the clock, Curry would be subbed out with 47 points to his name. Moreover, it was his birthday that night. So 50 points on his birthday would have made it a storybook ending.

However, in a recent matchup against the Celtics, Curry would get injured and step out of the game. In his absence, the Warriors have not enjoyed much success. They fell short in unexpected fashion to the Orlando Magic, which led to a 3 game losing streak. However, they bounced back with a strong win over the Miami Heat.
