Playing against the Brooklyn Nets is always a challenge. With stars such as Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Ben Simmons, the team looks extremely dominant. However, things have been slightly easier for oppositions off late.
With Simmons out due to injury and Irving only able to play away games, teams seem to gain a slight boost in confidence when they pay a visit to Brooklyn. However, KD’s presence is enough to give them a challenge and potentially stop them, as he is the centerpiece of the franchise.

This is exactly what happened in the latest game between the Nets and the Luka Doncic’s Mavericks. Durant kept his team afloat with a solid performance only to fall short of a win due to a buzzer-beater from Spencer Dinwiddie.
In light of the heated game between the two teams, there would come a moment where Kevin Durant spoke back to a Nets fan who said something to him during the game.

During the game, a Nets fan from the sideline asked Durant to take over the game. Thereafter, Durant responded back to the fan in a harsh manner.
“Kevin, you gotta take this game over,” said the fan.

Kevin Durant and Luka Doncic this Season
Both Durant and Doncic have had solid seasons so far. For KD, it was an amazing start to the 2021-22 season as he put up strong numbers and was even in MVP talks. Moreover, the Nets were winning games regularly and looked like they’d finish among the top seeds of the East. In fact, Durant also became one of the captains of the 2022 All-Star Game. However, since his injury, the Nets slipped down and are currently 8th in the East after the loss to the Mavs.

Moreover, Kyrie’s home game unavailability and Simmons’ injury have led to a huge load on Durant. However, he has not backed down from the challenge. As the regular season draws to a close, he will aim to win more games and improve the Nets’ standing in the East.
As for Doncic, it has been yet another superb season from the young star. Despite the poor run of Porzingis with the Mavs that led to his trade, Luka has been putting on amazing performances this season to carry his team. In fact, he too had a 50 point performance like KD this season. It is clear that he will not back down from any challenge.
