Just when it looked like thing were going well, fortune just didn’t stay with the Lakers. They have lost LeBron James for several games yet again as he enters the health and safety protocol. They just beat the Sacramento Kings, 117-92, who previously defeated them after a triple overtime encounter. The duo of Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis took charge in the absence of the ‘King’. NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins had a few words for Russ when it comes to LeBron.

The Lakers haven’t looked completely settled just yet. However, in their last game, Russ and LeBron looked a lot better on the floor together. Moreover, in Bron’s absence, Westbrook and Anthony Davis have done great as a duo, as witnessed in their latest match as well. While they haven’t seen much success, their chemistry on the floor sure shines through.

Looking at that, Perkins had some advice for Russ.

Westbrook and LeBron James need to have a talk

James and Westbrook are both ball dominant players. They are at their best when they dictate the play. Hence, having two such players on the floor could have a detrimental effect. But the Lakers are doing their best to figure out their partnership. But one partnership that has worked is between Anthony Davis and Brodie. That duo has done their part effectively and Perkins wants Russ to have a chat with LeBron James.

Perkins said: “See, this is what we have to realize about with playing with LeBron James. You’ve got to be able to stand up to him, and say ‘move out the way.’ Because when we watch the game against Sacramento Kings I thought Russ and Anthony Davis has something going in the two-man game where there was high pick and roll whatever the case may be. I thought they had it going. Then all of a sudden they went to that one side of the court, ‘lets get it to Bron’ and everybody spacing, their offense got stagnant. You have to be like a Rajon Rondo against a LeBron James when he is on the floor. Rondo don’t have a problem with telling LeBron run, move out the way I got it.”

Russ sure has picked up his performances in the last few games. However, with LeBron on the floor, he can not be the primary handler. While Perk does make a point about the AD-Russ duo, without Bron, the Lakers’ offense runs stagnant most times.

But in their most recent win against the Kings, Westbrook and Davis combined for 48 points, with Malik Monk adding another valuable 22. Do you think the Lakers are a better outfit without LeBron? Do Russel and James need to have that conversation? Let us know in the comments below.
