Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics seem to have found their momentum for the season. With three straight wins to their name, the Celtics have created quite the buzz. Of course, a large chunk of it is thanks to Tatum and his explosive performance over the last few games.
His 54-point game against the Brooklyn Nets was spectacular and earned him praise on social media and otherwise.
Kendrick Perkins was among those complimenting Tatum. Following the Nets game, he even compared Tatum to Celtics legend Paul Pierce. However, Perkins does not believe Tatum has passed Pierce yet.

Kendrick Perkins calls out fans putting Jayson Tatum before Paul Pierce
Before the fan mentioned Tatum passed Pierce, Perkins himself spoke about Tatum giving off a Pierce vibe. “He gave them people a 50 piece spicy! All Flats. Carry the hell on?,” Perkins wrote.
His statement was met with some disagreement, as a fan tweeted saying Tatum has now passed Pierce. The 37-year-old chose to respond. As per Perkins, Pierce’s playoff run still keeps him over Tatum.
He referred to the 2008 Celtics title run. Not only did Pierce and Celtics beat LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, but also the Los Angeles Lakers led by the late Kobe Bryant. Additionally, Pierce also won Finals MVP that year.
Though fans agreed, they did not fail to mention Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett.
How else is Tatum dominating on the court?
Along with comparisons to Pierce, Tatum has also lined himself up with another Celtics legend. As per reports, Tatum has tied himself to Larry Bird himself for most 50-point games in Celtics history. Furthermore, Tatum is 24 while achieving his fourth 50-point game. Bird was 33 when he did so?during his 11th NBA campaign.
