The Draymond Green-Jordan Poole altercation continues to be the talk of the town in the NBA. The Golden State Warriors forward Green punched his teammate Poole in the face following a verbal argument during practice on October 5. The video of the incident went viral and Green received a lot of backlash for his lapse of control. Shaquille O’Neal finally shared his perspective on the whole incident during his recent appearance on the Big Podcast.

Shaquille O’Neal claimed that despite being a Hall of Famer he had touched a lot of people up during his playing days in high school, in street brawls, and while playing at the army base.

The four-time NBA champ reckoned that Draymond Green being fined was quite fair as the teams did not want their players to be fighting. O’Neal also shared that in the aftermath of such incidents, either people keep talking or they change their disposition.

Shaquille O’Neal says Jordan Poole had it coming

The Big Podcast host Nischelle Turner asked Shaq if Green sucker punched Poole. Shaq refused the notion and claimed that Jordan had pushed Green first and backed up before letting Green walk toward him. Nischelle reckoned that Draymond Green bowed into Jordan Poole before he pushed the Warriors forward. Shaq responded, “Once you lay hands on somebody, two things will happen, they’re always gonna keep talking, or it’s on.”

The Lakers legend felt that Jordan Poole had it coming after he pushed Green. He added that Poole should have hit back after getting punched by Green. Shaq reiterated the fact that such altercations happen in the background of competitive sports all the time and the fans outside rarely get to see them.

The Golden State Warriors management has been working on damage control since the incident. The team discussed the incident thoroughly with Draymond Green, Jordan Poole, and Stephen Curry, before deciding against a suspension. Green has apologized to Poole and the team, taken some time off, and returned to the Warriors for their last pre-season encounter.

Unfortunately, the incident happened just a couple of weeks before the start of the 2022-23 season. Thus, the Warriors would hope to bring the team together before the season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers on October 18.
