There have been a lot of rumors about trading Russell Westbrook from the Lakers. But the lack of a good package available for him seems to be a major problem. But one idea of trading him for Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving seems to have sent fans into a frenzy.
Kyrie has said that he would like to stay with the Nets, but he has not been offered an extension yet. He does have a player option, but he has not picked it up as well. Rumors suggest that the Nets are not sure about offering him a max contract due to his availability issues.

I'm sure both franchises do, but Durant and Westbrook have familiarity as does LeBron and Irving. Would really be the best for both franchises to swap.

Ain't no way of the hornets are going to make that deal 😂 the Lakers wouldn't trade LeBron for Kyrie Irving. 🤣

Everyone involved. Kyrie doesn’t want to play with Lebron again. Westbrook and KD don’t want to play together again. The nets don’t want the Westbrook experience, and the lakers don’t want the kyrie circus. The league may want it however for the intrigue.

KD and the entire Nets ownership group and fandom!!! Lol. The LA media and fans would crush Kyrie!!!! Look what they did to Russ, who everyone believed had a thick skin

If Lakers got Kyrie Irving and he is healthy next season along with Anthony Davis staying healthy, which won’t happen, they would win the whole thing. The west will be really really tough. Clippers, warriors, Grizz, nuggets when they there players back, suns and more.

Durant came to Brooklyn to play with Kyrie…why would they trade him for Westbrook? Westbrook and Durant don’t get along either. LeBron and Kyrie didn’t get along either. Doesn’t make much sense.

How the trade could work out for both teams?
The idea might seem farfetched, as both teams might be hesitant to pull this off. The Lakers will be looking to avoid the media circus Irving generates after last season. Westbrook’s lack of shooting may be a huge problem for the Nets. And his fit with the team will be in question.

However, what both these players bring to this team will be elite. Irving’s playmaking and scoring will be a huge boost for the Lakers. And he can make a deadly trio with LeBron and Anthony Davis. The Lakers will instantly become the favorites to win it all and they might be enticed to trade for him.
The Nets, on the other hand, will be more concerned. They already have a non-shooter in Ben Simmons and adding another non-shooting playmaker just doesn’t make sense. The Lakers will need to offer a lot to the Nets if they have a chance of getting Kyrie Irving.
