During the live session, Kwame Brown reacted to the recent interview that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had given. The Los Angeles Lakers legend recently appeared on CNN to give his thoughts on the supposedly antisemitic views that Irving recently co-signed. During the interview, the six-time NBA champion stated that Irving was being ‘used to promote hatred’. Before watching the CNN interview, Brown said that Kareem was once ‘hated’ by the media too. He stated that back then, the media didn’t really like Kareem.
“I think Kareem forgot about how they treated him when he played. How they treated him when he was outspoken. How they treated him when, essentially, Kareem was Kyrie,” said Brown.

According to Brown, if the media was the same back then as it is now, then Kareem would have had to face the same amount of backlash that Kyrie is facing now. Brown stated that it was confusing to him why Kareem had become ‘the guy’ who criticized people the way he was criticized back then. Brown reminded that Kareem’s outspoken nature had helped him get to where he is now. Therefore, he needs to stop speaking against Irving because they basically are the same person from different eras. In other words, Brown pointed out that Kareem was the subject of slander too when he did things that are commended now, but weren’t acceptable to do back then, especially for black people.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar says Kyrie Irving is being used

Majority of athletes and fans have condemned Irving for ‘supporting antisemitism’. Consequently, the NBA champion was suspended by the Brooklyn Nets and was given a series of tasks that were mandatory if he wanted to get back on the team. Moreover, he received harsh criticism from several famous personalities and one of them was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

“I think Kyrie has to understand what’s happening. He’s been unwittingly used to promote hatred and antisemitism. And even though he doesn’t see himself as antisemitic by joining forces and making post like that, you can be used. And I think that’s what happened,” said Kareem to CNN’s Jake Tapper.
