Four-time NBA champion LeBron James has been very open about his desire to play alongside his son Bronny in the NBA. At 38, LeBron is still very fit and playing at a high level for the Los Angeles Lakers. However, there is no denying that he is edging toward his retirement. However, his chances of playing with his son Bronny are still pretty viable, since the latter will be eligible for the 2024 NBA draft. But it is still uncertain what would the four-time MVP do if a different team drafts Bronny. Recently, ESPN analyst and longtime LeBron James expert Brian Windhorst addressed the issue and also opened up about claims of nepotism against the father-son duo.
There have been reports suggesting that teams might draft Bronny just to sign LeBron as a free agent. On the other hand, there are still doubts about Bronny’s abilities and whether he would make the league without any help from his billionaire father.

In the latest episode of The Dan Patrick Show, senior ESPN writer Brian Windhorst joined Dan Patrick and discussed a variety of topics. During the sit-down, the two also talked about LeBron James’ desire to play with his son Bronny. Windhorst admitted that last year he thought Bronny would either go undrafted and the team LeBron is in would sign him as a free agent.
However, Bronny’s development in the last year and evaluations from scouts who do mock-drafts for rising talents, have convinced Brian Windhorst that he would be drafted. In fact, Bronny’s draft wouldn’t be influenced by his father’s reach, the NBA insider predicted. “But I will say this. This is not going to be a nepotism situation. I don’t believe it. I am not saying he is gonna be a top-three pick. But I think he is going to earn his way into the NBA on his own if he continues developing on this path,” said Windhorst, during the show.
However, he was not ready to reveal how high Bronny would be picked despite being adamant that he will earn his way to the league. Bronny has shown leaps of improvement in the last few months playing for the Sierra Canyon High school team. LeBron has also been impressed with his son’s athletic development and flourish of skills recently.
