Seeing the success of the MVP ladder in the regular season, the NBA decided to start one for the Finals as well. Currently, Stephen Curry is top of the list after two magnificent performances. However, the presence of two of his teammates in spots two and three drew furious reactions from the fans.

Jordan Poole and Kevon Looney are the players who are behind Curry on the MVP ladder. It was rather surprising, as they are above the Boston Celtics duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. While Curry has been the best player in this series, Tatum and Brown have been next in line. They have been the pillars of the Celtics’ offense and have averaged over 20 points in 2 games.

Poole is a star of the future but he is not number 2 on the list

Jordan Poole’s rise has been phenomenal. From a G-League player to being the sixth man on a championship team is quite something. At times, he has single-handedly carried the Warriors in the playoffs, but he doesn’t deserve to be number 2 on the Finals MVP ladder.

In game 1, Poole had 9 points and he just couldn’t make an impact. He was atrocious while shooting the ball and was highly ineffective. In game 2, he had 17 points, but the majority of them came when his team was up big. Many of the fans claim that the reason he is so high is that he hit two threes at the end of the third quarter, including one from half-court.

Meanwhile, Boston’s Tatum and Brown have averaged over 20 points. Although the former had trouble scoring the ball in game 1, he notched up 13 assists. Many of the threes the Celtics hit in game 1, where Brown was the catalyst, were courtesy of Tatum’s passes. Three days later,?Tatum bounced back and ended up with 28 points while Brown had 17.

Poole is a star for the Warriors and has all the potential to be a superstar one day. But saying that he has been the second-best player in this series could be an overstatement.
