The NBA playoffs are in full swing. The Philadelphia 76ers have taken on the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals. The Sixers came out on top in game 1 against the Celtics even without the services of their star player Joel Embiid. Recently, Joel Embiid was in the news as he reportedly achieved his lifelong dream of winning one of the most prestigious laurels in the NBA.

Michael Jordan can add another accolade to his accomplishments. The only difference being he is the face of the trophy rather than receiving it. Jordan in his career won the MVP trophy five times in 15 seasons. Michael Jordan has been made the face of the MVP trophy the NBA announced. The league announced the winner of the Michael Jordan MVP Trophy recently.

Joel Embiid gets felicitated by the NBA

Joel Embiid was averaging 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists. The NBA didn’t let his efforts go in vain as they announced him to be the winner of the first-ever recipient of the Michael Jordan MVP trophy. Joel Embiid has been phenomenal in the regular season. He helped his side finish third in the regular season and in turn, qualify for the NBA playoffs.

Joel Embiid has said in the past that it was his lifelong dream to win the MVP award. He started playing ball when he was fifteen years of age and was about to quit when he got dunked on his first day of playing basketball.

Joel Embiid was seen getting emotional as he was announced the winner of the prestigious MVP award. His teammates were seen cheering for him on the accomplishment. James Harden was seen hugging the reigning MVP. Embiid beat Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic for the prestigious accolade. Joel happens to be the first Philadelphia star to become an MVP since Allen Iverson.

Embiid sustained an LCL injury during the third game of the first round against the Brooklyn Nets. The 76ers fans will be hoping for the star to get back to his physical best to help Philadelphia in their bid to contend for the NBA championship title. Even in Embiid’s absence, Philadelphia was able to get past the Boston Celtics in game 1 all thanks to James Harden’s 45-point performance.

James Harden shines in Game 1

Philadelphia 76ers were able to beat the formidable Boston Celtics in the first game of the conference semifinals. James Harden showed why he’s considered one of the greatest scorers of the game as he put up 45. Jason Tatum did score 39 points, but it was not enough to get past the Philadelphia 76ers. The 76ers will need James Harden to be at his best as Joel Embiid stays out of the squad due to injury. It’ll be interesting to see who comes out on top at the end.
