The NBA MVP award race for the 2021-22 season was so close and fierce. The three players that were in contention for the award were Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, and last year?s MVP Nikola Jokic.
Now there are reports coming out revealing that Nikola Jokic has been voted as the NBA MVP for the 2021-22 season. ESPN?s Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news on Twitter. This would add him to an elite list of players who have been back-to-back MVPs like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

But a lot of fans are showing their disbelief in Jokic winning the MVP award. And they shared their thoughts on social media. The fans are also pointing out Jokic’s run in the playoffs.

The Philadelphia 76ers fans were obviously rooting for Joel Embiid to win the MVP award for the first time. And were disappointed to find out that Embiid has missed out on the prestigious award.

Joel Embiid’s season
Embiid averaged 30.6 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game in 68 games this season. Joel was also the 5th in the rebounding category.?
Jokic averaged 27.1 points, 13.8? rebounds, and 7.9? assists per game in 74 games this season. He helped an injury-plagued Denver Nuggets team to seal a playoff spot.
And Giannis averaged 29.9 points, 11.6? rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game in 74 games this season. Giannis and the Bucks are still going strong into the second round of playoffs against the Boston Celtics even without all-star Khris Middleton.

Joel Embiid was a strong contender for the MVP award this season. He has helped his team win the first round of the playoffs against the Raptors. And now trying to do the same in the second round against a stacked Miami Heat team even with a skull injury.?

Joel Embiid became the first-ever scoring champion from the 76ers since Allen Iverson won it 17 years ago. He was also the first International player ever to be the scoring champion. Joel was also the first center to win an NBA scoring title since Shaquille O?Neal did it in 1999-00.?

The fans feel that breaking all these barriers and records must mean something in the MVP race. But it looks like it is not meant to be this season.
