Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers took on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday. This was a highly anticipated matchup between the number 3 and number 5 seeds in the East, and the game didn’t disappoint.

The 76ers prevailed in the match-up as Joel Embiid had a monster game. He ended the game with a 40 point triple-double as he cemented his status as the favorite for the MVP. The Cavs did not have an answer to him the entire game. The Sixers had a 15 point lead, and they were cruising to another blowout. But the Cavs fought back, they took back the lead in the third quarter. But the Sixers went on another run and they ended up winning 103-93.

Chiefly, the highlight of the game came in the second quarter. Embiid was at the free throw line with less than two minutes to go in the half. He missed the second free throw, but Jarrett Allen wasn’t able to secure the rebound and the ball was swiftly recovered by Georges Niang,

He saw Joel Embiid at the free throw line and shoved the ball to him. Embiid then took a step, and he jumped to throw it down. And man oh man, did he throw it down! He absolutely baptized one of the best shot blockers in the league, and Embiid wasn’t done yet.

Even after the dunk, Embiid wasn’t done. He is known to be an absolute savage on Twitter and he doesn’t spare anyone. And Allen was no different. After the game, Embiid posted the picture of the dunk and he captioned it, “GODZILLA”, comparing himself to the mythical monster.

Embiid is having one hell of a season. He is leading the league in scoring, and he is playing like the best player in the league. Embiid is averaging 29.5 points and 11.2 rebounds on nearly 50% shooting from the field. He is playing with a chip on his shoulder and he is the most dominant player in the league right now. The Sixers will hope that he can continue his fine form as we approach the All-Star break.
