Jimmy Butler performed really well in Game 1. Looks like playoff Jimmy has come back with a bang in the Conference Finals this year against the Boston Celtics. He has been fantastic throughout the playoffs. As such, he has made the Miami Heat one of the favorites to win the championship. Coach Erik Spoelstra too has made a system designed to suit the prolific shooting guard. Inevitably, he also gets compared to one other shooting guard, Michael Jordan. Jordan is considered the greatest of all time. And even though Butler may not be on Jordan’s level; he had a performance which reminds the fans of the man himself.

But an old Internet rumour has become viral again. Is Jimmy Butler Michael Jordan’s son? Well, he’s not! But it’s still fun to speculate. The timelines might not match up. Certain details might not be correct for realists but for fans, it’s something interesting.

Butler was abandoned by his father and was raised by his mother till he was kicked out when was 13. He was permanently taken in by friend, Jordan Leslie. Eventually, he was recruited by the Chicago Bulls from Marquette College.

This theory broke out all the way back in 2016 and got little popularity within the large internet circles. However, yesterday’s performance was reminiscent of “His Airness” and Butler indeed channel his inner Jordan.

Way back, Terez Owens had broken the story. He mentioned Jordan had an illegitimate child in 1988 and the child took the maiden name. It’s not probable because he was born in 1989. At the timeJordan was engaged to Juanita.

Butler scored 41 points in that game. Consequently, he emerged as the best player that day and allowed the Heat to beat the Celtics 107-118 in Miami. With them playing the next game in Miami, Butler’s performance is crucial for his team to go through to the NBA Finals.

Coincidentally, his playoff averages are so monstrous that they are only matched by Michael Jordan himself. His stat line of 41-9-5-4-3 has not been matched by anybody and since Jordan, nobody has recorded 40 points, 3 steals, and 3 blocks.
