NBA great Dennis Rodman played for the San Antonio Spurs between 1993-1995 with jersey number 10, funky hair color, and the ability to handle the ball on the court well. In the present, Spurs rookie Jeremy Sochan dons the number 10 jersey and has funky-pink-colored hair. Additionally, Sochan has great control over the ball on the floor. For fans, the resemblance between the five-time champion and the Spurs rookie is uncanny. With this in mind, much like Rodman, Sochan was trending on Twitter after the game against the Sacramento Kings.

During a Spurs possession in the third quarter of the game, Sochan looked to pass the ball. When this didn’t happen, he took matters into his own hands. He spun between two Kings defenders, sprung high up, and slam-dunked the ball over the Kings’ center, Domantas Sabonis. Following this, the Spurs bench starred at Sochan in disbelief at what they had witnessed. On the live broadcast, commentator Dan Weiss yelled, “SOCHAN THE DESTROYER!”?

Instantly the video of the poster dunk became the topic of discussion on NBA Twitter. This dunk reminded fans of Blake Griffin’s monstrous dunk over Kendrick Perkins during the 2012 game between the LA Clippers and the Oklahoma City Thunder. One fan said, “Blake Griffin vibes the way he just threw it in the bucket.” Some were quick to state that Sochan is already the “candidate for dunk of the year”.?

Earlier this year, Sochan earned high words of praise from Spurs coach Gregg Popovich. Coach Pop believes that Sochan can play and guard in all five positions. Coach Pop said,?”He has got quick feet. He is long. He has got a knack for it and enjoys it.?Popovich added: “He is special in that way.”
This being his rookie year, Sochan undoubtedly has a long way to go. However, in the first month of the season, Sochan has left a lasting impression on fans and experts alike.
The game between the Kings and the Spurs
The?Sacramento Kings beat the San Antonio Spurs by 18 points. With this victory, the Sacramento Kings are now on a five-game winning streak. Kings’ point guard De?Aaron Fox was highly instrumental in getting his team the win. Fox bagged 28 points with 8 assists and shot 73.3% from the field.

Fox’s efforts were well-complimented by the Kings’ shooting guard Malik Monk who registered a total of 26 points. Coach Mike Brown had a few special words for Malik Monk during the press conference. Coach Brown said, “He brings a lot of joy to the team. He is always laughing and joking. He keeps the team connected. Brown also stated that Monk’s energy is contagious.
