Although he is quite successful, Shaq was once humbled by a well-known DJ during a festival. Talking on ‘The Big Podcast with Shaq’, O’Neal invited legendary DJ D-Nice.
He talked about an interesting encounter between him and D-Nice. During a festival, Shaq was rocking the crowd when he suddenly noticed the crowd getting thin. The reason behind this? People were ditching DJ Diesel and going to watch D-Nice!
Shaq said, “When he got on, all the other DJs including myself, would get jealous and we would look for like, ‘D-Nice ain’t on. Let me go.’ One time I didn’t check the time, I had like a thousand people I thought I was doing something.“
“Then my numbers started to drop and they were like ‘we love you dude but D-Nice is on’. I was like god d*mn it, D-Nice does it again,” said the NBA Hall of Famer.
Shaquille O’Neal made a name in music before basketball
While millions around the world might know Shaquille O’Neal for his exploits in basketball, his music journey started before he made headways in the sport.
He first made headlines in 1993 when he dropped “Shaq Diesel”. The album was an instant hit, and it actually went platinum. Not bad for your first album.
