After a regular-season loss against the Bulls, Smart claimed that the Celtics superstars Jayson Tatum and Brown should look to pass more. The controversial comments didn?t sit well with Jayson Tatum. And many thought that it would be the end of Jayson?s time in Boston because of prior rumors about him leaving.

The controversial comments from Smart came after the Celtics lost 128-114 to the Bulls. But the disappointing point was that the Celtics blew an 18-point lead. This triggered the comments from Smart about Tatum and Brown.
Smart said, ?They don?t want to pass the ball, and that?s something that they?re going to learn. They?re still learning and we?re proud of the progress they are making, but they are going to have to make another step and find ways to not only create for themselves but create for others on this team.?

He said that every opponent knows that the ball will be in the hands of Tatum and Brown. So every team is programmed to defend the two and make them pass the ball. But he was disappointed that the superstars didn?t pass as much as he wanted. He said that he would like to just play basketball.?
And there were speculations of a feud between Smart and Jayson Tatum. But the Celtics? president of basketball operations Brad Stevens cleared the air saying that he saw both players having breakfast together and talking about solutions.?
?Those guys want to win,? Stevens said. ?And at the end of the day, I think that that?s the most important thing.?
