NBA superstar Jayson Tatum is one of the many reasons for the success of the Boston Celtics so far in the playoffs. Tatum played some great performances over the course of these playoffs and helped them reach the Finals.?

In game-1 of the NBA finals, the Celtics played the Golden State Warriors in the Chase Center. The Warriors had a 100% win record in their home until the Celtics shocked them in game 1. And Jayson Tatum played a huge part in the comeback win for the Celtics.

Jayson now has a huge contract with the Celtics and lives big. But it wasn?t always very comfortable growing up. His mother, Brandy Cole, was just 19 when she gave birth to him.

But she was determined that she would raise him to be a successful man. Tatum revealed when exactly he promised his mother that he would take his family out of the financial crisis.

Jayson Tatum kept his promise

Cole wanted to make sure that the young Tatum would not find out about the financial struggles they were growing through. But she wasn?t able to hide it from him for long. Jayson Tatum said, ?I remember coming home and it being a pink eviction notice on the house… Coming home from school and going to use the bathroom and trying to turn the water on, calling my mom like ?Mom, we ain?t got no water?… And it was just things like that, that was like ?I?mma get us outta here.??

The young boy promised to get himself and his mother out of it, and he has done exactly that. He did that with sheer hard work and determination. His high school coach once said that Jayson worked every day of his life to be a better basketball player. He said that Tatum would be the first one to practice from 5:45 to 6 AM. His high school coach also said that he just took just one day off from practice, which was the day after they won the State title.

Tatum then played college basketball for Coach K and the Duke Blue Devils. After playing for one year for Duke, he entered the 2017 NBA draft. And the Boston Celtics selected him as the #3 draft.

Fast forward to 2022, he is one of the go-to guys for the Boston Celtics. Tatum has also helped his team reach the Finals while winning the Larry Bird Eastern Conference Finals MVP award.
