Kevin Durant finally addresses the prevalent media narrative that Steph Curry’s fourth championship victory diminishes his legacy in basketball. KD indifferently dismissed such claims as “childish” and banal tabloid fodder. In addition, Kevin Durant expressed his genuine happiness after watching his former teammates display an all-time great performance in the Finals.

The Golden State Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics 4-2 in the 2022 NBA Finals to win their fourth ring in eight years. Stephen Curry bagged his first-ever Finals MVP trophy, averaging 31.2 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. After the Finals, the predominant media narrative has been to speculate the extent of harm Curry’s fourth ring has brought on Kevin Durant’s legacy.

Kevin Durant dismissed the “childish” claims that he is jealous of Steph Curry’s success after he left Golden State in 2019 in the most recent episode of The ETCs podcast. The 12-time All-Star said that the media has always pitted him against his teammates.

Earlier, it used to be Russell Westbrook, now it is Steph Curry, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving. KD couldn’t emphasize enough the annoying nature of these claims. “It’d be irritating to hear that because I just wanna watch the game,” he said.

Meanwhile, KD also mentioned that there are no foul feelings between him and Steph. Afterward, KD once again brought up the media fabrications against him and Steph. The 2-time NBA champion declared that he is a part of the Warriors dynasty too. In other words, he contributed to two of the four champions the Warriors have won in the last few years.

Therefore, it is childish to count him out of those teams.
