On Friday Night, the Golden State Warriors registered a win against the Toronto Raptors. This marked their second-straight win, elating the fans and re-inkling the hope that good times were coming their way. The Warriors pack was led by Stephen Curry (35 points and 11 assists) and Klay Thompson (29 points and 8 rebounds). Apart from the Splash Brothers, each player in the Warriors jersey made a commendable contribution to the 129-117 victory. However, it was noticed that James Wiseman, 2020’s 2nd overall pick, spent zero minutes on the court. 

During the press conference, Coach Steve Kerr was asked about not giving Wiseman time on the court. Coach Kerr weighed in on this situation as reports about Wiseman’s future in the team emerged online.

When the Warriors star joined the roster, big things were lined up for the 21-year-old. The goal for Wiseman was to grow under the wings of the franchise’s aces and soon become the face of the team. However, an injury to his knee has hampered this process. Furthermore, Wiseman has failed to leave a measurable impact with the time he has been given.

Further, Coach Kerr spoke on the 95.7 The Game’s Damon & Ratio show and said, “One of the things I tell James from time to time, is that I feel bad for him because of the circumstances.” A day after this comment, Kerr decided to give JayMychal Green court time instead of Wiseman.

In Kerr’s words, the motive behind this move was simple. While talking to the NBA Sports Bay Area, he said, “JaMychal has been playing well in the last few games, and so we gave him those minutes.” Kerr added that Wiseman could get a chance in the coming games, but the team isn’t keen on rushing through and is focusing on making their decision by the day.

From Warriors star Donte DiVincenzo, and Curry to Draymond Green, the experienced players have constantly shared their two cents with Wiseman. They induce him with positive words while focusing on helping him grow. In a way, Draymond Green revealed that he has taken the youngster under his wings.

 In October 2022, he spoke to the media and was optimistic about Wiseman’s growth. He added, “He’ll keep getting that experience, and that’s on myself and [Kevon Looney] to make sure we continue to help and teach him.”

Despite this aura of support, Wiseman’s future with the team hangs in balance. As per ESPN, with the trade deadline approaching, the Warriors plan to make a move. The ESPN report suggested that James Wiseman and Moses Moody’s names are on the table.
