The Mount Rushmore of basketball is often very debated. Though two names are very common in most people’s opinion, the other two or three are often debated. But one former teammate of James Harden who was treated out by Kobe Bryant snubbed the Mamba for Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.

Chandler Parsons is a former NBA player who has played for several different teams including the Houston Rockets and the Memphis Grizzlies. The Rockets drafted him in the 2011 NBA Draft. He was known to be an excellent three-point shooter, but his career got cut short due to injuries.

Parsons suffered career-ending injuries in a car crash in 2020. And he officially announced his retirement in 2022. While recently conducting a Q/A session on Twitter, he was asked who his Mt.Rushmore of basketball is. And his answer will definitely surprise you.

Parsons snubs Kobe Bryant in favor of Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant

Parsons named five players in his Mt.Rushmore. He said they were Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Shaquille O’Neal. While LeBron and Jordan are commonly included in many lists, the other three are not so much.

Even Shaq is way more common than Curry and Durant. There is, however, one notable exclusion. And that is Kobe Bryant.

The Black Mamba played in the NBA for 20 years and he spent his entire career with the Los Angeles Lakers. In that 20-year span, he won five championships with the Lakers and numerous other awards. And Parsons played against Kobe multiple times and he earned his respect as well. Kobe even treated Parsons out to a place once as well.

When Parsons was a rookie, he was tasked with guarding Kobe Bryant at the Staples Center. In the fourth quarter, Kobe asked Parsons what he was doing tonight. When Parsons said nothing, Kobe set him up for a night out in an exclusive club.

Though he couldn’t make it, he made sure Parsons and his teammates were well set for the night and he even paid the bill for the young rookie. And Parsons always spoke highly of Kobe. So it was very surprising to see him leave him out of his Mt.Rushmore of basketball.
