James Harden has always been a superstar who believes in performing both on and off the basketball court. The Impact13 foundation, a brainchild of Harden, recently decided to help Haitian children.

More than 300 children received performance apparel through Harden’s recent venture. These included Adidas backpacks, socks, shoes, water bottles, and basketballs. They were also given personal hygiene supplies such as Art of Sport deodorant, body wash, and lotion. Gopuff, the go-to platform for same-day delivery of everyday essentials, teamed up with Impact13 Foundation to distribute 3,000 personal hygiene items.

James Harden’s mindset behind this donation

In a recent interview with Yahoo Sports, Harden said “Leading by example is the best way I can inspire others to step up and join the effort to help change lives for the better. I’ve read about the poverty in Haiti and the disadvantages they face every day, and I want to make sure I am doing my part to help where I can.”

In addition to this, Harden also partnered with local agencies, and artists to create a basketball court.

“Well, it’s the right thing to do. I wanted to leave something special behind that will last for generations and this court will give kids the opportunity to have a safe place to hoop and will inspire them to chase their dreams of making it to the NBA or WNBA.”

The 9 time NBA All-Star and 13-year veteran broke down why he decided to choose Haiti as a location for outreach. He revealed that the hardworking and resilient people of the NBA inspired him to bring forth resources to the country. He was quoted saying, “Sports have the power to change lives.”

What drove James Harden to supply resources?

James Harden is an exceptional player and a future Hall of Famer. He has already made an impact on the court and has changed the game in a positive way. Harden believes that now is the time to help unprivileged youth all across the world. He wants to do this by imparting resources, knowledge, and happiness.

“A goal of mine is to win the NBA Community Assist Award. I have always been active within my community, but this year and moving forward, I will do more within my community and globally. Through my Impact 13 Foundation, we want to impact the lives of thousands and inspire the youth to chase their dreams.”

Growing up poor and unprivileged, Harden understands the troubles faced by these kids and teens. The world needs more conscious athletes, like Harden, who are willing to sacrifice their resources for improving the world. Just like the legend he is, Harden is chasing his own dreams on the court, and helping others chase their dreams off the court.
