Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies is undoubtedly one of the most exciting players to watch in the league currently. The Most Improved Player for the 2021-22 season is known for his dunking abilities and he uses his gifts to optimum use.

Interestingly enough, it is not only the stars of today who have faced Ja’s wrath. Morant recently commented on NBA legend Michael Jordan. The Grizzlies star talked about cooking Jordan in a 1v1. Safe to say, his words sent headlines all around the world.

While Ja’s dunking abilities might terrorize opponents, a former NBA star has a piece of advice to stop him. According to John Salley, if the player jumps first, Morant will have to think. This will prevent him from dunking on the player guarding him.

Salley said, “If I was playing against Ja Morant, I would jump first. All you big guys out there who see him going to the basket, just jump first. Jump first and make him think about not jumping. If you go up in the air, he won’t go up in the air. That’s the only way of stopping that kid and not getting dunked on.

It will be interesting to see whether someone will use the advice given by Salley to defend Ja Morant during the upcoming season.

When the Memphis Grizzlies took on the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2021-22 season, Morant sent headlines all around the world. Although Morant committed a bad turnover during the first quarter of the game, he made up for it with an insane touchdown block.

Avery Bradley’s shot was blocked by the star with an insane jump which left fans around the world mesmerized. Moreover, even the 4 time NBA champion and Lakers star LeBron James commended him on his efforts. 

LeBron said, “Obviously, it starts with timing and also just stalking your prey. Didn’t know he was going to do it in that fashion, but he got rockets in his calf muscles, and it was a spectacular play.

Thanks to Ja’s efforts, the Grizzlies made it to the second round of the Western Conference playoffs. He ended the season averaging 27.4 points, 6.7 assists, and 5.7 rebounds.
