Imagine being compared to the likes of Stephen Curry, Kobe Bryant, and others, so early in your career. Yes, Morant has already accomplished so much. Thus, the All-Star spot will be the prize for his efforts. Can he earn his spot?

At the beginning of the season, if someone said that Memphis would be third at the halfway mark, most of us would’ve laughed it off. But Ja Morant has made this a reality. Averaging over 25 points and nearly 7 assists this year, he is a leading candidate in the MVP race too.

Although the competition is stiff in the form Joel Embiid, Stephen Curry, LeBron James, and more, an All-Star spot seems likely for the young guard. However, he is competing with Mavericks powerhouse Luka Doncic for the spot. In spite of all the white noise, Morant believes he deserves the prestigious honor.

Ja Morant firmly asserts his All-Star candidacy for NBA 2021-22

According to a recent update, Morant is behind only Curry in the All-Star voting. With the votings having ended, it remains to be seen whether the #12 will be a starter. His main competitor? The Slovenian sensation Luka Doncic, who is a 2-time All-Star. While a large section of the NBA community is backing Ja, there is a certain group that believes he doesn’t deserve to start. Now, he has shut up his haters with a brutal statement.

Ja’s confidence has never been in question. On multiple occasions, he has showcased that he is afraid of nobody, and is willing to fight fire with fire, no matter how big the player. Recently, Morant has issued a bold statement to the rest of the playing field, regarding his All-Star intentions. “I deserve this. I earned this,” reinforced the prodigy. He continued, “I worked for this… I didn’t want to be no alternate. I don’t want to be a spot filler.”
