While speaking about Morant, Jefferson compared him to some great players and said he is an elite star in the league.

However, this team has also proved they can win without Morant in this league. But the 22 year old budding superstar is their leader on the court.

Richard Jefferson holds high praise for Ja Morant
While on NBA Countdown, Jefferson opened up about Morant’s dominating stretch of games. He compared his numbers to players such as LeBron James, Luka Doncic and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Jefferson also said that he is the leader of the Grizzlies organization and can they can be contenders by building around him.
Jefferson said: “Ja Morant is that dude. He is their leader, But make no mistake, this team won a ton of games when he was out. That’s not a knock on Ja Morant, that just shows that this organization is run right, that this group around him competes at an extremely high level. And when you add him, that’s when you start getting what he’s talking about, a contender.”

Morant is playing some great basketball for the Grizzlies in recent games. While he has been sensational all season, Morant is putting up monster numbers in his current stretch. The Grizzlies guard has scored 30+ points in all of his last seven games and is also their lead playmaker. He is making a serious statement and is living up to his All-Star status.

For the Grizzlies, they have got a record of 16-4 in their last 20 games and the organization continues to rise as underdogs.
