Michael Jordan didn’t just become one of the best on the court accidentally. He proved his worth by playing against some of the best teams of his time. From ending the domination of the Bad Boys of the Detroit Pistons to tackling the New York Knicks led by Patrick Ewing, he handled them all. However, he got to face some challenges while playing against the greats that probably didn’t come in the eyes of the referees. And one such famous incident that garnered controversies was when Jordan got a little push from the Indiana Pacers legend, Reggie Miller, in 1998. However, in light of this, decades later, Miller confessed about this incident during his Hall of Fame speech in 2012.

Reggie Miller was one among the few who devoted his entire life to a single franchise. He joined the Indiana Pacers in 1985 and went on to spend his entire career of 18 years there. His dedication to the club was so prominent that he never escaped from giving the best for his team on the court.

Considering his love for the club, he shoved Jordan to cover up a deficit of one point during the 1998 Eastern Conference finals. Eventually, this push made the Pacers clinch the victory despite losing the series against the Chicago Bulls.

Naismith Memorial Basketball honored Miller by inducting him as a Hall of Famer in 2012. In this event, Miller let the cat out of the bag. During his speech, he confessed in front of Jordan that he pushed him decades ago to clinch the victory. Subsequently, also added something that displayed his sarcastic nature. Miller said to Jordan, “I’ve seen you deal with it so many other times with so many other players that I figured it was ok.”?

The aforementioned statement implied that Miller got the courage to push Jordan from Jordan himself. Therefore, he thought that it might have been okay to push him a bit for his and his team’s victory. However, Miller’s apology definitely portrayed his sarcastic side and showed the truth that many might have been looking for.
