A name that had been attached to the game of basketball for a long time, Knicks legend, Louis Orr passed away on Thursday at the age of 64 after battling cancer. Many known faces of the basketball world noted his passing and reflected. Among many, the NBA and Knicks legend, Patrick Ewing, also joined in to pay homage to his long-time friend.

Louis Orr’s family also shared a statement regarding his death. The statement read, “On 12/15/2022, Louis Orr was called home to be with the Lord as his battle with cancer?has come to an end. He was a dearly loved and devoted husband, father,?grandfather, brother and friend. He will forever be missed!”? The ex-Knick had a deep connection with Syracuse and prominent NBA franchises like the Indiana Pacers and the New York Knicks.
Patrick Ewing pays homage to Louis Orr
Ewing among many notable faces of the basketball world, joined in to pay homage to his long-time friend. The 60-year-old took to Twitter to express his thoughts about his dear friend.
He said, “I’ve lost a great friend. Someone who has been in my life since I was 22 years old. We developed a friendship and a brotherhood. He was always someone I could talk to – we would talk about life, we would talk about basketball, we would talk about family.”
The Knicks legend also mentioned that Orr would continue to always be a part of the Georgetown Hoyas Men’s Basketball team.

Ewing’s tweet showed how much Orr meant to him. It seemed like the Knicks legend poured his heart out while paying homage to his friend and fellow Knicks star.
The career of Louis Orr
Orr, before making his NBA debut, played four seasons for Syracuse. In Syracuse, he finished his college career with an average of 12.8 points and 3.4 rebounds. Thereafter, the NBA veteran spent six years with the Knicks out of his total of eight years in the league before joining as a coach for Sienna for one season.

In addition to that, he also coached Seton Hall for five years from 2001 to 2006. Subsequently, he went on to become an assistant coach under Ewing at Georgetown.
