Griner and Johnson knew each for some time, but they really connected at a camp. They spend some time together in Las Vegas and later became a couple. She also mentioned why she was blown away. Johnson adds, “I’ve had men that needed to step up more as a man than Brittney. I was set.”

The couple was together for some time before Griner decided to propose. And she did it in a grand way. Even though some people said that she might be rushing into this, Griner said that she was happy at that time.

But things turned sour soon after, as the couple was forced to spend some time apart due to their work. Griner went to China and Johnson had to go to Russia to play. This caused arguments between them. So Johnson decided to end her season abruptly and come to Griner at her request.
