Superstars Kevin Durant and LeBron James are two of the best small forwards in the league right now. Both players have their unique set of abilities on the floor. And both players are also the number one option for scoring on their teams. However, making bold claims which might overshadow past legends might not be a good move.

Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant recently appeared on the show Boardroom. During the podcast, KD and the host Eddie Gonzalez spoke about various things. The two had a pretty long conversation where-in Durant ended up making some big claims.

Kevin Durant about facing LeBron James

The host Eddie Gonzalez brought up the topic of Kevin Durant guarding LeBron James whenever they match up against each other. And KD, trying his best to be humble, mentioned how there wasn?t anybody else who could guard James.

Durant said, ?Yeah, I mean it?s very rare, like, in the history of the game, you get two guys that actually guard each other and you know what I?m saying. We are the number one option on the team most of the nights.?

?We checking each other out there, I mean that?s, you don?t see that out there, so that small forward position, I think we both helped change the position. So when we get together, there?s always a unique game. You?re gonna see all different types of sh*t out there,? added Durant.

Now this might not sit well with the fans of the Boston Celtics and NBA legend Larry Bird. Bird was in a category of his own. But KD and James are future Hall of Famers as well.

LeBron James, despite his size, has been the primary ball handler for his teams wherever he plays. With his size, basketball IQ, and athleticism, he was an unstoppable force during his prime. Kevin Durant on the other hand could be called one of the most complete scorers in NBA history. Durant turned himself into a scoring machine. Though Durant is listed as 6?10, he is more like a seven-footer who plays like a guard.

Before James and Durant, Larry Bird had already ?been there, done that.? Despite being less athletic than most players in the league, Bird managed to dominate the 80s just by his sheer basketball IQ.

Bird was a pure shooter, but that didn?t stop him from making an impact in other aspects of the game. ?Larry Legend? excelled at threading the needle and finding his teammates on the floor. Clutch shooter, ball dimer, floor general, defensive stopper, underrated rebounder, and his basketball IQ are just a few things to name about Larry Bird?s game.?

Arguably, Bird revolutionized the game as a small forward long before KD and LeBron did and paved the way for future generations.
