Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving shook the NBA world with his recent trade request. According to reports, the Nets point guard failed to land a new contract extension with the team and could now don either a Dallas Mavericks or Los Angeles Lakers jersey ahead of the trade deadline. However, disappointed Nets fans spotted a similar pattern from the blockbuster James Harden trade last season. They took to Twitter to express their opinions. 

Just like the Kyrie Irving trade news, James Harden stole the headlines ahead of the 2022 trade deadline. Harden similarly shook the NBA world when the Nets traded the Philadelphia 76ersBen Simmons for ‘The Beard’. Many fans felt that the Nets would face their downfall after the departure of Harden and Irving.

A recent Twitter post shared images of James Harden’s trade update from last season and Kyrie Irving’s update from the current season. The tweet read, “1 year ago today vs today.” The images included tweets from NBA Insider Shams Charania and surprisingly, the tweets revealed a similar pattern. On both occasions, the Nets management listed out its stars ahead of their trade. Charania’s recent tweet read, “Nets’ Kyrie Irving is listed out tonight vs. Wizards.”

The upcoming trade could affect the Brooklyn side as their star player Kevin Durant is yet to make a return to the hardwood from his injury. The Nets are currently the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference table with a 32-20 record so far this season.

Ever since the trade request blew up the internet, Lakers fans have jumped for joy to witness Irving don the purple and gold jersey. Lakers legend Magic Johnson joined the bandwagon as he put out a tweet about Irving as well. The tweet read, “Personally, I’d love to see Kyrie in the purple and gold.
