It appears that the Nets have gotten off easy with a $25,000 fine. Back in 2013, the NBA issued a $250,000 fine to the San Antonio Spurs for resting four players during a nationally televised game. The decision was made by former NBA commissioner David Stern, who criticized the Spurs for their decision.
Fans react to NBA’s decision
The NBA issued a fine against the Nets due to their disregard for the fans who had come to watch their beloved stars like Durant and Irving. Witnessing the absence of their favorite players was discouraging for the fans, who usually have to pay a lot of money for the game tickets. As a result, the league decided to take strict action to refrain other teams from following such practices.
