NBA fans are not happy with Draymond Green at the moment. Green’s violent retaliation has arguably significantly ruined his public image. Additionally, fans are now making it clear that they are not buying any “excuses” from the Golden State Warriors star. Earlier, on October 8, 2022, Green tried justifying his actions of punching teammate Jordan Poole by saying that he was “emotionally hurt”. However, fans seemingly dismissed his reasoning.

Draymond Green recently caught the attention of the basketball community. On October 5, 2022, Green punched fellow Warriors teammate Jordan Poole during the team’s practice. According to the video that was leaked by TMZ, Green walked towards Poole, who then pushed the former away following a verbal exchange. In retaliation, Green hit his teammate in the face, after which Poole fell down. Green was then separated from Poole by other teammates and staff.
A day after the incident, Warriors star Stephen Curry along with head coach Steve Kerr, and GM Bob Myers confirmed the incident during a press conference. They stated that Green had apologized to his teammates and was expected to resume practice on October 8, 2022. Additionally, Green will be facing disciplinary action from the team and the matter will be handled internally.
NBA fans dismiss Draymond Green
Furthermore, Draymond Green made a public apology and announced that he will be taking time off indefinitely. While he is expected to be back by the start of season 2022-23, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr stated that it is not yet decided as to when Green will return. Green reportedly repented his violent approach and asked forgiveness from the team, Poole, and Poole’s family.
“I do want to give my team some space, I want to give Jordan some space, and then also take a few days and continue to work on myself… take some time to let everything breathe,” said Green.
“Hurt people hurt people…I hurt someone because I was in a place of hurt.”

NBA Central recently posted a statement made by Green on Twitter. Evidently, the Twitterati are not in any mood of entertaining Green’s reasons. Many blamed the four-time champion for trying to make himself the victim.
Here are some of the reactions on NBA Twitter:
You punched someone 😂, you can’t suddenly start making excuses, and it’s not your first time doing something dirty like that

Boo hoo. This man has been enabled by the Warriors organization for years acting like this. Track record of dirty play. Nobody surprised by this but Draymond.

While Green might have apologized for his violent outburst, this is not the first time the Golden State Warriors star was involved in a brawl. In 2018, Green came to blows with former Cleveland Cavaliers player Tristan Thompson. The duo was apparently at a party where Green tried to amend things between them. Thompson was reportedly upset because of Green’s continuous trash-talking during the 2018 NBA Finals. When Green didn’t back off, the latter landed a punch in Green’s face.
