The Los Angeles Lakers have had one of the worst starts in their franchise history. With a 2-9 record, the Lakers are in the lowest segment in the league’s standings. And that is after having three All-Stars on the team. And after the latest decision by LeBron James Lakers regarding Russell Westbrook, a former three-time All-Star has sympathized with his condition.?

The Los Angeles Lakers had decided to bring Russell Westbrook off the bench this season. In the 11 games that the Lakers have played so far, Westbrook has only started three of those 11 games.?

Agent Zero comes to aid Russell Westbrook

Since Westbrook’s ill-advised shot against the Portland Trail Blazers, the coaching staff has shifted Westbrook to the bench. However, the players that are replacing Westbrook in the starting lineup had former All-Star Gilbert Arenas left to share his thoughts.?

On his podcast, ‘No Chill with Gilbert Arenas,’ he talked about Westbrook’s situation with former Lakers player Nick Young. While talking about the current Lakers’ starting lineup, Arenas dropped a concerning question in the middle. He asked, “They want Westbrook to come off the bench, for who?”?

Arenas emphasized the word “who” multiple times before making his point. He said, “Who is he coming off the bench for? What player, what player on that team is on the bench, they don’t, it’s not like they got a Jordan f*****g Poole over there. They don’t have Jordan Poole for us to be like, alright Jordan Poole c’mon in.”

“No, who’s on the bench that’s like, ‘Yeah, we gonna be some starters’. Nobody,” he added. Westbrook may not have been pouring it in every night but when he gets going, it does arguably get hard for the opposing team’s defense to stop him.?

Westbrook compared to Patrick Beverly

Russell Westbrook is averaging 16.1 PPG, 6.3 APG, and 5.6 RPG coming off the bench. And the player who is replacing him in the starting lineup is Patrick Beverly. Beverly has been averaging 4.9 PPG, 3.8 RPG, and 2.8 APG this season so far.?

Westbrook may have had a rough start but he has really picked up the pace since then. For his last three games prior to the matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers, Westbrook scored 26, 19, and 22 points respectively in those games.

Clearly, Russ has drastically improved his game. Now only time will tell whether the Lakers will shift him back into the starting lineup or will they keep bringing him off the bench.
