She stated that Griner deserves to be home with her spouse and family. Jasmine hinted Griner is being used as a political “pawn.”

Sorry, not sorry. She is wrongfully being used as a pawn in a bigger scheme that?s being played, and it?s unfortunate to see.”

However, Jasmine is not the only one to suggest Griner is being used as a pawn. Earlier, when she was detained, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal mulled over the notion with his co-hosts Nischelle Turner and Spice Adams in his podcast. Another NBA legend Charles Barkley had the same view. Many U.S. diplomats feel the same way about the situation.

Conditions in the penal colony

After a Russian court rejected her appeal, Brittney Griner began her nine-year sentence in the IK-2 penal colony in Russia. There were huge concerns about her safety as information about the conditions in these penal colonies continued to come out. As per various reports, the inmates are required to work 16 to 17 hours a day. Also, prisoners suffer physically without proper nutrition. Furthermore, reports suggest that homophobia and racism are quite common in the penal colonies as well.
