Moreover, the 11-time All-Star rubbished the ‘silly’ Michael Jordan debate with a brutal truth for another NBA legend, Shaquille O’Neal.
Barkley and Shaq might have been friends for a long time but both of them have crossed swords on several occasions previously. In fact, whenever they wrangled they were not afraid, to tell the truth about each other.

While sharing his views on Perkins’ recent comments in an interview with Altitude Sports Radio, Barkley recalled that Shaq could not understand how Steve Nash won two MVP awards over him. This, in turn, prompted him to say to the Big Diesel that Nash only won the award because he had a better regular season than him.
The former Sixers player further made Shaq understand how MVP voting works by using the example of Jordan not winning the MVP? award against him and Karl Malone despite being the best player in the league. Sir Charles said, “I played with the great Michael Jordan…I won MVP over him. Was I a better player? Nope, that year my Phoenix Suns had the best record in the NBA and I deserved an MVP.” The Chuckster further took the name of Karl Malone and said how he won the MVP award in 1997 because of a better regular season than His Airness.
Finally, the 11-time All-Star criticized the argument surrounding the MVP debate. He said, “I hate this silly argument that we have every year because it’s disingenuous, it’s wrong…” The former Sixers player’s statements implied that one gets the MVP trophy based on how well the player performs in the regular season.

Barkley and Shaq could often be seen often be wrangling with each other but in a previous episode of NBA on TNT,?Sir Charles extolled the virtues of the Big Diesel. He said to Shaq, “You’re one of the most genuine people. You’re one of the most fun people that I’ve been around…You’ve had an amazing life and I’m glad to share it with you.”
