Gilbert Arenas is a familiar face in NBA circles. While his on-court greatness is undeniable, his post-career resume has become just as famous. Whether it is a hot take or inside information, Gil is the man to find. While Arenas has ruffled some feathers at times, he is a respected icon.

Gilbert Arenas was The First Outfit Wizard?

While his exploits in locker rooms are the stuff of legend, it was once his outfit choices that caught the media’s eye. Dressed up in a hilarious Rino outfit, Arenas looked all kinds of funny, and like the true sport he is, took it all in stride.

Detailing the incident on his podcast, Gilbert said, “We lost a bowling bet. I had to dress in a Halloween outfit.” With a long history of betting incidents behind him, perhaps Gil could have taken a different route. But, that would have taken away from the unique looks that he bestowed us with.

Further, Arenas clarified that his assumption led him to Scooby-Doo outfits. As a result, players in general thought, that Gilbert was “out of his mind”. As the years pass on, this is one phase of his career that Gil would definitely like to forget.

A Professional Wager Destroyer

Apart from losing bets, Gil also became instantly famous on the back of a bet.  During a regular season game, Gil overheard a conversation between pop icons Irv Gotti and Ja Rule. Elaborating on the story, Arenas recalled shooting a last-second shot to ruin their bet over the spread. Highlighting a card game between the three men, Gil mentioned how the two told him about the incident.

As he recalls, after winning a $300 round, Gotti suddenly remembered the incident. Jokingly threatening to kill him, Gotti reminded Gilbert of the whole ordeal and how he was screwed out of the bet by Gil’s late-game heroics.
