Trinity Rodman and DJ Rodman are both athletes like their father, with the former being one of the best in her sport. Trinity is a rising star in the soccer scene owning to the athletic gifts from her father. However, Rodman’s direct contribution to her success went only so far due to his absence in her childhood.

After an ugly divorce in his longest-lasting marriage with his former wife Michelle Moyer, Rodman was no longer around to watch DJ and Trinity grow up. In an interview, Trinity Rodman (20) credited her success to her single mother but also remarked that her father indirectly played a part.

In an interview with the Guardian in 2021, Trinity Rodman talked about her rise as a professional soccer player. She also harped back on her childhood and addressed her relationship with her father, Chicago Bulls legend Dennis Rodman.

Trinity Rodman was raised by her single mother, Michelle, along with her brother DJ Rodman. Being the daughter of an eccentric basketball star came with its challenges. Her last name followed her everywhere growing up. However, instead of being annoyed by the constant attention, Trinity used the name ‘Rodman’ to motivate herself. When asked about growing up as a Rodman, she said,?“You could say it put a fire under me more than pulling me down.”?Trinity admitted to not being bothered by all the recognition. Moreover, she took it upon herself to prove her worth outside the confines of her last name.?

After years of just being referred to as ‘Dennis Rodman’s daughter’, Trinity finally made a name for herself. At 18, she made history, becoming the youngest player to be drafted into the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). The Washington Spirits drafted the young forward straight out of high school as the second overall in last year’s draft.

Her rookie campaign was a massive success. She won the NWSL Rookie of the Year and was selected to the NWSL Best XI. She also played a crucial role in the team’s rotations. The Spirits made the playoffs and eventually won the championship. The management noticed Rodman’s contributions and rewarded her with a contract that made her the highest-paid player in the league.
