The Golden State Warriors had an emphatic win against the Detroit Pistons yesterday, as they beat them 118-91. In this emphatic win, they also saw their injured superstar Klay Thompson make a return on the bench.
Although Klay will be out for the season, it was a welcome sight to see the 30-year-old by the team after such a long time. The 3-time NBA champion later opened about how he felt to be back, and how he is recovering from the injury in NBC Sport Bay Area.
He said, “I’m living. Good to be back in the building,”

He added, “I’m so eagerly waiting to play. Just bored at times. Stuff is slow with letting my Achilles try to heal and get to the next stage, which is mobility work. But I’m feeling good. I’m happy to be with my teammates. Unfortunate I’m not playing.”
He also opened up about how irritating it is not to play. “It kills me every day, but I plan on playing for a long time and I don’t want to have any mishaps from this rehab.”
The Warriors have certainly missed the offensive boost with Klay’s absence. They added Kelly Oubre Jr., but inconsistent performances from the 24-year-old hasn’t helped them much. The Warriors are in a jam-packed Western Conference. They will hope that their new look side can be enough to propel them to the playoffs this year.
Can the Warriors make it to the playoffs without Klay Thompson?
The Golden State Warriors have been pretty inconsistent this season. They haven’t won more than two games in a row. It is understandable, given the new look roster. But the Dubs have flashes of being a good team with some all-round performances this season.

The biggest variable for the Dubs is the form of Kelly Oubre Jr. The 6’7 guard, who was brought in to replace Klay Thompson, has been one of the most inconsistent players in the roster. They have been games where he puts up 25 points a game and in some games he ends up scoring 4 points.
It’s about time that he steps up and brings some much needed consistency to his game. Andrew Wiggins, on the other hand, has been pretty consistent so far, putting up some decent performances defensively and adding at least 15-20 points per game.

The Warriors have been dependent on Steph Curry so far, who has held his end of the bargain. In the 20 games he has played, he has averaged 27.7 points, 6.1 assists and 5.4 rebounds per game.
If the other players around him step up, then we surely will see the Golden State Warriors make it to the playoffs this season.
