NBA legend Dennis Rodman is one of the most popular basketball players ever owing to his flamboyance on and off the court. Over the years, Rodman has been involved in a lot of controversies. However, he couldn’t care less what others think and speak of him. He once stated that he would visit Russia to help bring the detained WNBA star, Brittney Griner, back home. Griner was initially arrested for carrying cannabis oil at a Russian airport. She pleaded guilty subsequently.

After multiple hearings, a Russian court sentenced her to nine years in jail. This came as a huge blow for Griner and her supporters. A lot of popular figures showed their outrage with the sentencing. They tried to use their platform to help the Phoenix Mercury star. Rodman, on the other hand, wanted to take matters into his own hands.

He suggested he would travel to Russia and help bring her back. Rodman also notably has a peculiar relationship with Kim Jon Un, the Supreme Leader of North Korea. However, the United States government warned his interference could hinder the chances of bringing Griner back. So the Chicago Bulls legend retracted from traveling to Russia.

However, journalist Armstrong Williams posted an enigmatic tweet on social media revealing that Rodman has succeeded to mitigate the Griner situation. This left NBA fans confused. No justification or update of the news was posted the journalist.

Dennis Rodman opened up about feeling “caged”

Recently, a Russian court upheld their initial nine-year sentence for Griner and rejected her appeal. Despite this, there was a shocking report that claimed Griner will be back soon home after the alleged help of Dennis Rodman. However, there is still no clarity about this.

Rodman has always done whatever he wants to even though it might not sit well with many. But he did not worry about that. As long as he could do whatever he wants, he was happy. The Chicago Bulls legend once revealed he felt “caged” when he had to do something because of societal expectations.

“If I do something, I can live with it,” he said. “But if society makes me do it, it just pisses me off, makes me feel caged.”

But when they lost to the Chicago Bulls in 1991, things started changing. This made a huge impact on Rodman who felt “betrayed” and “helpless.” He admitted he became “rebellious” after this.
