Ranging from Michael Jordan to Kevin Durant, one can’t help but imagine what it’d be like when these stars came up against one another. According to Isiah Thomas, a star of the days gone by, today’s greats like KD and LeBron James would outdo the likes of MJ and Magic Johnson. Here’s why.

There’s a reason why Durant and LeBron are regarded as the finest of their generation. They have successfully compiled all the attributes required to make it work; physicality, quality, agility and more. They have consistently averaged well over 20 points in the seasons gone by. However, these stars have had way fewer mid post and triple post shots, in comparison to the ones who dominated in the yester-years. And this, Isiah believes, is why the Nets and Lakers forwards will edge out the likes of ‘His Airness’.

Isiah Thomas details why LeBron James and Kevin Durant can overpower Michael Jordan
A 12-time All-star, 2-time NBA champion and Detroit Pistons legend, Isiah Thomas has well and truly been there and done that. Having seen enough of the likes of Michael Jordan in the years gone by, he knows his generation’s mainstays inside out. Yet, the 1990 Finals MVP has always been a fan of Durant. Recently appearing on a podcast alongside the former Warriors All-star, he gave a stunning evaluation.
Isiah began with a bold statement. “Kevin, you could win in our era too.” Despite KD laughing it off, Thomas was being fully honest. After stating that Jordan got more mid range shots, he continued, “He [Durant] is a taller player. He’s not getting doubled.”
“If you put Kevin Durant in the triple post in mid range, you know..” Admitting that even the best of his generation wouldn’t be able to guard KD, he also lauded James. “And the same thing with LeBron. You put LeBron in the mid post, triple post, back in the 80s, 90s…”
