After missing several games due to a leg injury, Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry finally made his return against the Los Angeles Lakers. Much to the Warriors’ dismay, the ‘Baby Faced Assassin’ failed to lead the team to a win as Lakers’ Anthony Davis stole the spotlight with his monster performance. Despite that, Steph reached a major milestone in the game that effectively put him ahead of Hall of Famer Michael Jordan. However, even surpassing the Chicago Bulls legend could not save Curry from all the backlash he received from fans.
The Golden State Warriors were on a five-game winning streak until they faced the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night. Despite having a strong roster against the LeBron James-less Lakers, the Warriors succumbed to their third straight defeat against their California rivals.

The Warriors superstar eventually dished out two assists to surpass ‘His Airness’. By the end of the game, Curry had also surpassed NBA veteran Chauncey Billups for the No. 49 spot with 5638 assists. This comes less than two months after Curry’s Warriors and the San Antonio Spurs set the record for the largest crowd at an NBA game, a record-breaking event that was previously set by MJ’s Bulls.
The 9x NBA All-Star scored a total of 27 points, 19 of which were scored in the last quarter of the game. He also pulled down two rebounds and had six assists. On the other hand, the AD dropped 39 points, eight rebounds, and six assists, leading his team to victory.

Despite having surpassed ‘His Airness’, Steph Curry could not save himself from facing harsh criticisms from NBA Twitter following the loss against the Lakers. One user questioned Curry’s accomplishment and wrote, “Is this something to brag about???? 50th????”
