NBA superstar Kevin Durant took the warriors to the promised land for two back-to-back seasons. Golden state warriors made five straight finals between 2014-2019 in their dynastic run. Durant won two championships with the franchise and moreover, took two final MVPs home.

The narrative when he parted ways with the warriors was that he was ‘jealous’ of teammate Stephen Curry. It doesn’t help his cause that the Warriors won a championship before he joined and even after he left. He joined a historic 73-9 team, which was considered a weak move by a lot of fans and analysts.

In an interview with ‘The ETCs podcast’, he clears the air on his time with the warriors and talks about their recent championship.

Kevin Durant cancels out the noise of critics calling him ‘jealous’

The narrative that the Golden State Warriors were a championship team without Kevin Durant has been around for some time now. Fans feel that Durant went ring chasing, joined their rivals, and left teammate Russell Westbrook. However, Durant was arguably the best player on the team. Stephen Curry had blown a 3-1 lead to LeBron James and the Cavaliers the year prior.

On the podcast, there was a topic of discussion about Andrew Wiggins. Wiggins now plays in the same position as Durant did for the Warriors. And played a pivotal role in bringing another championship to the Bay area. Fans believe they could have won with anyone in place of KD.

Kevin Durant said, “A lot of people, you know when Golden State won, it felt like they went back and said well ‘If they won this one, then they could’ve easily won 2017 and 2018 with somebody other than KD’. But I’m just like, ‘Why somebody other than me?’ Like, ‘Why you wanna pull me from them?’. You know what I’m saying? So it’d be irritating to hear that because I Just wanna watch the game…”

Durant is a part of the Golden State Warriors dynasty that included players like JaVale McGee, David West, and Shaun Livingston. Durant also revealed that the narrative he was jealous of the Warriors is false. The Brooklyn Nets star also revealed that he likes his Warriors teammates.

In Oklahoma, he averaged 28.8 points on in 19 shot attempts, which drastically changed when he came to the Warriors. At the Warriors, he averaged 25 points on 16 shot attempts since he shared the floor with players like Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
