Riley and the Lakers’ story is a legacy of its own. Having coached one of the greatest basketball players of all time, Riley’s resume as a coach is stacked. The first NBA title was in 1972 while he was serving as a backup forward for the Lakers; the second title came in 1980 while he was serving as the team’s assistant coach. After that, the legendary coach never looked back. It pretty much rained NBA titles for him after that point. As the head coach of the “Showtime” Lakers in the 1980s, he won four NBA titles. Riley also led the Heat to their seventh championship in 2006 and their eighth and ninth championships in 2012 and 2013, respectively.
