The Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal is undoubtedly one of the most outspoken personalities in the NBA world. On the court, the 4x-NBA champion was known for his backboard-breaking dunks. The seven-footer has replicated such intimidating characteristics off the court as well. O’Neal is popular among the hoops community for calling a spade a spade. Nonetheless, the former MVP is also infamous for verbally bashing the ones who disagree with him. DJ Diesel has now unleashed his wrath against a media personality who called out LSU star Angel Reese.

Last night, the LSU Tigers outsmarted the Iowa Hawkeyes to win their first-ever NCAA women’s basketball title. Despite the triumph, an incident involving the Tigers star Angel Reese has not gone down well with many people. The veteran commentator, Keith Olbermann, was quick to call out the 20-year-old. However, LSU alumnus Shaquille O’Neal ran to his alma mater’s star’s rescue and brutally lashed out at Olbermann.

Following the Tigers’ stylish championship win, Angel Reese went to the Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark and taunted her with the ‘you can’t see me’ gesture made famous by John Cena. Adding insult to injury, Reese pointed to her ring finger, implying her triumph over Clark and co. The instance has made Angel Reese a hot topic of discussion. Keith Olbermann was one of the many people to call out the Tigers star. The 64-year-old tweeted a video clip of the incident and wrote, “What a f**king idiot.”

The entire episode caught Shaquille O’Neal’s attention. The seven-footer stormed to Twitter in defense of the 20-year-old fellow LSU player. “Shut your dumb a** up leave angel reese alone,” replied Shaquille O’Neal to Keith Olbermann’s tweet. Despite the NBA superstar spewing venom at Keith Olbermann, many think that Reese’s gesture was inappropriate. Some even believe Shaq, being an LSU alumnus, is biased towards Reese. However, some fans pointed out that Caitlin Clark too had indulged in a similar antic and people are now making a mountain out of a molehill.

Prelude to the infamous gesture

Angele Reese is not the first one to bring in John Cena’s iconic gesture to taunt an opponent on the court. After Caitlin Clark and co. defeated the Louisville Cardinals in the Elite Eight, Clark used the same ‘you can’t see me’ gesture against the vanquished side. Moreover, Caitlin Clark had also disrespected South Carolina’s Raven Johnson by leaving the latter open instead of trying to defend her. Angel Reese took this incident personally. According to her, she gave it back to Clark, who got away with disrespecting fellow players.
